Kenny’s was founded by a successful serial entrepreneur in Jeffreys Bay in 2012 who saw an opportunity in the market for a fried chicken quick service, take-away style restaurant, offering a wider range of food with focus on great taste, high quality and friendly service.

The business was a big success right from the start and the People quickly fell in love with the concept, the flavours and the service and only 3 month later a second outlet has opened. Since then the Brand has grown steadily.

The Business Format

1.Kenny`s Express

Kenny`s Express Stores are small, quick service, take-away style outlets suited to fit into medium traffic locations like shopping centre food courts with access to communal seating or smaller petrol stations.

Size: 80-100 sqm

2.Kenny`s Standard

Kenny`s Standard Stores are medium sized, quick service, take-away style outlets that are equipped with larger and additional equipment compared to a Kenny`s Express in order to service more customers per hour. Ideally suited for shopping centre food courts, larger petrol stations or as a stand-alone in a high traffic location.

Size: 100-150 sqm

3.Kenny`s Sit-down Restaurant

The layout of a Kenny`s sit-down Restaurants offer quick, take-away style service and allows seating for up to 50 people.

Size: Min 180 sqm

Ideal Store Location

Sites that are situated in high traffic areas with high visibility. Parking and good access points are essential.

 

Application Fee

R 10 000.00 (excluding VAT) – non-refundable fee to proof commitment to the Kenny`s Franchise process and to offset the costs of in-store assessments, interviews and tests.

Upfront Franchise Fee

  1. Kenny`s Express: R 60 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  2. Kenny`s Standard: R 70 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  3. Kenny`s Sit-down Restaurant: R 80 000.00 (excluding VAT)

This fee includes:

  • The right to use and operate under the Kenny`s trademark name and concept
  • Assistance with site selection and evaluation
  • Assistance with lease negotiations
  • Legal costs incurred in conclusion of the License Agreement
  • Licensee and staff training
  • Initial pre-opening and launch assistance

Estimated Set-up Costs

  1. Kenny`s Express R 690 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  2. Kenny`s Standard R 960 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  3. Kenny`s Sit-down Restaurant R 1 600 000.00 (excluding VAT)

These costs may vary, based on the size and design of the store. On availability we make use of guaranteed, refurbished catering equipment that will meet Kenny’s requirements to reduce set-up cost. These estimated set-up costs do not include working capital or any other pre-opening expenses.

Total Establishment Costs

  1. Kenny`s Express R 760 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  2. Kenny`s Standard R 1 040 000.00 (excluding VAT)
  3. Kenny`s Sit-down Restaurant R 1 690 000.00 (excluding VAT)

Monthly Royalty Fees

  1. Kenny`s Express The greater of between R4 000.00 or 6% of Total Revenue per month
  2. Kenny`s Standard The greater of between R5 500.00 or 6% of Total Revenue per month
  3. Kenny`s Sit-down The greater of between R9 500.00 or 6% of Total Revenue per month

We provide intensive training for all our Franchisees, which encompasses practical on the job training as well as theoretical training. This training will incorporate many elements, most of which relate to the following areas as outlined in the Operations Manual that will form the basis of your day-to-day management tasks.

The training provided is extensive and sufficiently comprehensive to ensure that a new Franchisee is familiar with every aspect of the business prior to opening and includes the following:

  • Safety and security
  • Restaurant maintenance
  • Cleaning and hygiene
  • Product preparation and presentation
  • Raw material management
  • General business and financial management
  • Personnel management and training
  • Inventory management
  • Customer care
  • Marketing

Training will be provided at a designated Kenny`s outlet. New Franchisees should provide for adequate time, travel and accommodation allowances for themselves and staff.

As a Franchisee you will be running your own business, yet within the conformity of the Kenny’s Brand and Business System.

Site selection and store opening process outlined:

Our Property team evaluate all potential sites and only upon full and final approval of the site in terms of this process is a sanction granted to pursue the establishment of a Kenny’s Outlet at that location. Two very important considerations when choosing a site are firstly, the surrounding demographics and secondly, the catchment area. We use a combination of trade area analysis, drive time analysis and demographic research to study sites before placement of the opportunity. Here it is important to stress that, while every effort is made to ensure that the site will be right to house a viable operation, naturally no guarantees or warranties can be given by Kenny’s in that regard. By taking a proactive and informed approach to site selection and network growth we will increase and improve our market coverage. We have an experienced Set-Up Development team that will see a new project through from blue print to final completion on a turnkey basis. Included in the turnkey process are the following services:

  • Drawings
  • Interior design
  • Site development (outside of Landlord’s scope of works)
  • Project management
